Updated: Applicable Process of Applying for Police Character Certificate since June 2023.
Police Character Certificate can be applied online through Punjab Police Pakistan’s app. Police Character Certificate is required for going abroad, jobs in various sectors abroad, movement and so on. Earlier, getting a police character certificate was a complex and time-taking process for residents as well as for the Police. PKM has streamlined and made it time-proficient. The resident can now apply for Police Character Certificate from anywhere all over Punjab as opposed to actually visiting that specific region/address for what character certificate is required. For instance, on the off chance that the resident is presently residing in Multan and needs to get a certificate from Mianwali (where he/she resided beforehand), he/she can apply for it straightforwardly from PKM in Multan as opposed to going the whole way to Mianwali.

Required Documents for Police Character Certificate if the Candidate is Abroad
If the applicant obtaining a police character certificate is outside the country, his character certificate can be applied and collected only by his blood relative. In case the person obtaining a police verification is outside the country, the following requirements are required.
- Photocopy of CNIC of the person outside the country.
- Photocopy of the Pakistani passport of the person outside the country.
- Copy of passport page on which visa is affixed and photo of last exit date page from Pakistan.
- 1 passport size photograph of the person outside the country (which will be scanned and returned).
- The form can be submitted by any blood relative (brother, father, mother, sister and so forth).
- The candidate from outside the country should also send the above documents to the official e-mail address of the Police Khidmat Markaz of the district from which he wants to get the police character certificate so that these documents can be double checked. Punjab Police Khidmat Markaz’s website pkm.punjab.gov.pk has the e-mail address of each district.
- Undertaking on white paper by a blood relative coming to get a police character certificate as shown below. This document will be considered as authority letter.
Processing Fee for Police Character Certificate
Rs.500/-. The fee can be deposited on one of the counters of PKM (Police Khidmat Markaz).
Rs.1000/- if the application is submitted online. This can be paid in cash on delivery. You can pay the amount once the character certificate is delivered to you at your doorstep.
Turn Around Time:
3 working days after the application is submitted.

How long is the police clearance certificate valid in Pakistan?
The validity of a Police Clearance Certificate or Police Character Certificate is 6 months. Most of the agents and embassies required a valid duration is at least 2 months before the expiry date of the character certificate.
How to Apply for Police Character Certificate Online in Pakistan?
A police character certificate is a document that verifies the good character of an individual. It is frequently required for business, visa applications, and different purposes abroad. You should give your own information, contact information, and the reason for which you want the certificate. You will likewise have to submit the required documents, like your CNIC, passport, and processing fee.
How to Apply for Police Character Certificate if Candidate is Abroad?
If you are living abroad, you can apply for a police character certificate by visiting your closest/pertinent embassy or through any blood relative living in Pakistan. You have 2 options to choose from:-
Option No.1: As mentioned above you can visit your nearest embassy and there you can apply for Police Character Certificate.
Option No.2: You can ask any blood relative living in Pakistan to apply on your behalf. He can apply it in 2 different ways.
1st Way to Apply: He can simply visit the nearest Police Khidmat Markaz Centre of his district and submit the required documents as mentioned at the beginning of this article.
2nd Way to Apply: He can apply online through Punjab Police Pakistan’s official app as shown in the image above. One thing to remember is that you have to pay Rs.1000/- pkr for the online application while the fee is only Rs.500/- pkr if the person is applying by visiting the Police Khidmat Markaz.
You can easily apply for a police character certificate online in Pakistan. The process of obtaining the Police Character Certificate is very simple as compared to the previous process which takes up to 45 days and requires verification from the DSP office and local police station. There was also one more document required from overseas Pakistanis earlier which is an authority letter. The authority letter is very difficult to obtain from any country. This letter is required no more after the new process is introduced.
The process was changed and made simple since 03.11.2017 but applicant need to prepare files and pay extra money for affidavits etc. Now the process very simple to apply for Police Clearance Certificate. If you have an emergency and wish to get the certificate within hours, that is also possible with the help of Police Officials available at PKM counters.
They can make the process super fast by contacting your concerned Police Station to check your criminal record (if available) and submit the report back in no time. You’ll get the certificate within 1 to 2 hours but remember that this process is not available for everyone as it takes 1-3 days to process the application through the proper channel.
